25 Things You (Probably) Didn't Know About Me

I love questionnaires; the more off-the-wall the questions, the better. I thought it about time to do a little fun get-to-know me post. While I am not the most creative person around, I hope you can find some enjoyment reading this and that you can get to know me a little bit more.

Let's Begin!
  1. I am happiest when...Marshall helps me in the kitchen.
  2. ...especially if it involves...laughter, good food, and cuddling on the couch afterwards.
  3.  I have always wanted to...1)go paddle boarding and 2) visit every U.S. state.
  4. My family and I...travel the "non-touristy" way. We camped at the beach when we went to the Caribbean instead of getting a hotel.

  5. I am a terrible...liar. Seriously. I can't keep a secret from anyone, especially Marshall. Unless it involves a present. Then I am amazing (because surprising someone with a gift is the best thing ever!)
  6.  My first job was...a figure skating coach at age 16. My only other non-coaching job was when I worked at Chipotle for the summer after my first year of college. I actually loved that job.
  7. I could probably eat...vegetables at every meal for the rest of my life and not get tired of them.
My beautiful "haul" from one day last summer.
  8. I stole...me? stealing something? Haha. I was voted as "goodie-two-shoes" in my Senor year book.
  9. I was born...6 weeks early, and in every NICU picture I am sleeping on my stomach with my legs sprawled out. This is still my favorite position to sleep in.
  10. My all-time favorite film is...I really don't like re-watching movies, but I love Secondhand Lions, The Sound of Music, Meet the Robinsons, and Julie & Julia.
  11. I do a pretty mean...Bird of Paradise. (but let's be real...do you know how difficult this was for me to put the timer on the camera and then run and get into this pose in time?)
  12. I am still disappointed...that I didn't keep up with my Japanese when I moved back to the U.S. at age 7.
  13. I always knew I wanted to...get married in the temple to my best friend.
  14. I'm not afraid to...try crazy foods. It's actually one of my favorite things to do. Luckily I married a guy who loves to do it too!
  15. I make the best...sourdough bread and fried eggs (well I can't claim they are the best but they are pretty amazing)
  16. I have almost no...regrets
  17. I always cry when...I feel like I have hurt someone.
  18. I'm a...saver, not a spender.
  19. I spent 6 years in...Japan (Tokyo & Yokohama)
  20. I wish my parents...knew how grateful I am that they paid for my housing at college.
  21. At 5, I loved...my dad so much I told him I wanted to marry him.
  22. I believe if everyone...ate dinner together as a family, the world would be a little bit better. Dinner time is seriously one of my favorite parts of the day. Even though it is only the two of us, we still set the table and have a meal together every night.
  23. I can't stand...idle for too long. I'm still learning from my husband how to relax.
  24. Whenever the Olympics are on, I'll watch it.
  25. Every day, I wonder...when I will get to meet my children.
So there you have it. :) Now you know me a teensy bit more!

Have a beautiful day ❤

Hoping for a Rainbow

I'm really not sure if I ever thought this day would come. The day that I made it past 13 weeks pregnant without losing the baby. #miracle.  I know I am not out of the woods yet, and honestly, when are we really? I am just trying to live every day with gratitude for the life inside of me, living with hope for the future.  Part of me wanted to wait until next week, when I was past 14 weeks and officially in the 2nd trimester, but I couldn't wait any longer. I've been getting a little thick in the middle, which is getting more difficult to hide, and I feel like I haven't been able to be completely honest with friends when they would ask, "how are you doing?" All I wanted to talk about was how nauseous I was or how nervous I felt. So now, the news is out, whether or not you already suspected something was up.  Seriously though, the 1st trimester is not for the faint of heart! There were many instances when I thought I would lose the baby, but dee...

Grandpa is Always Right | Gender Reveal |

I was hanging out in our rental apartment in Salzburg, Austria with my sister when my dad walked out of his bedroom and announced that I was having a girl. I was only 11 weeks along at that point and while I was wishfully hoping for a girl, I was preparing myself for a boy. His strong conviction of the gender of our child without any hints from an ultrasound surprised me. My dad seems to always be right about things, so I secretly hoped he was right this time too. Today during my scan, my favorite sonographer announced that we were having a girl. Grandpa is always right. I never imagined our family starting with a baby boy. I don't know why, but a baby girl seems to fit just perfectly. Now I just have to keep calm and stay healthy for 19 more weeks.

Learning to Speak Like an Alaskan

Denali in the background No one wants to feel like a newbie, so a common practice before traveling to a new city or country is to learn the language of that particular place.  Well, when my Aunt Joan picked me up from the airport last December when I first arrived in Alaska, one of the first things she told me was if I didn't want to sound like a tourist, I needed to refer to Mt. Mckinley (the tallest mountain in North America, located some 120 miles south of Fairbanks) as Denali .  Denali is the native Athabaskan name for the mountain, and means "The High One."  So, from day number one in Alaska, I refered to that majestic mountain as Denali instead of the name I had learned growing up.  This is just about what it looked like yesterday morning! Another thing I learned recently is how to say the temperature.  I was saying "Gosh it's cold outside because it's negative 30 degrees."  But luckily, a kind skating mom...
