A Successful First 10k Race

I am enjoying the Fairbanks summer while I can!  It is definately about 70 degrees in this picture AND about 12am. Love it. After being in Fairbanks for a week or two, Marshall and I realized that it would be a good idea for me to work towards something. Like a race or something that would challenge me and help me feel good about myself. (But don't get the idea that I was depressed or anything, I just needed a concrete goal to focus on). I had heard about this 10k that was coming up, but I hadn't signed up for it because I was nervous about running a 10k. I love 5ks and I have done a half marathon, but I had yet to do the "in-between." Then my lovely sister told me she was doing a 10k on July 4th, so I was motivated to sign up. I enjoyed training for this race, though I didn't have much time. I run regularly, so it wasn't too hard to push a little harder. Marshall was a great support to me. Turning a house into a home

You don't realize how wonderful it is to have pictures up on the walls and in frames, books on the shelves, a can opener that works, and all of your clothes in the closet AND dresser until you have to live out of a suitcase for 4 weeks.  I know that is not as long as other families in the Army, but it was long enough for me! So after three weeks, I decided to call the moving company and ask them when our stuff was coming. Finally the movers arrived on Friday, June 15th at 1pm. I guess Marshall chose a good day to be on CQ because he missed the arrival and the chore of opening boxes and setting up house. :) But in all honesty, I think it was good that he wasn't home because then I didn't have anyone to complain to. Not that I didn't like unpacking boxes. I actually REALLY love to organize and clean. It's just that moving all of our kitchen gadgets, sports toys (soccer balls, rock climbing gear, tennis rackets, etc), and dozens of blankets into a 600 sq ft apar
