Tender Mercies

My husband and I LOVE food. Anyone who doesn't know that about us just doesn't know us very well yet.  We celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary on November 25th. This past year has been the most difficult one for me, but the most rewarding. A baby's first year is not for the faint-hearted. My man has sure seen the worst of me as I have traversed these fatigue filled days, as well as the best of me as I have cherished every squishy giggle from our beloved girl. BUT O HOW AMAZING TO GO ON A DATE FOR 5 HOURS ALONE WITH HIM! (Thank you to the mother-in-law for tending the baby!) We have been planning to go to La Galette Berrichonne  ever since we were told of their 7 course French dinners on Saturday nights by reservation only back in July. Yes, we are planners too. We've had five years together. A perfect time to celebrate each other, our marriage, and the upcoming arrival of our little girl. We really wanted to have a get-away, so on Black Friday morning we hopped into the car and drove 3 hours to Omaha, where we attended the Winter Quarter's Temple, visited the Pioneer Museum, meandered around downtown Omaha, and ate a three course meal at Dario's Brasserie , a candlelit European style restaurant with a French flair. That night we stayed at the cozy Crescent View Bed & Breakfast  , just 15 minutes northeast from downtown Omaha. On Saturday we played at the Omaha Zoo and ate lunch at Block 16 , a foodie location for mouthwatering decadent sandwiches. From all of the good food we ate during this weekend, I never felt my stomach grumble once. Happy 3rd Anniversary!! I love celebrating my anniversary. On Monday night I expressed my excitement for tomorrow's celebratory day and Marshall insisted that our real anniversary was on Black Friday. My reply to this was, "Okay, I can spoil you tomorrow and you can spoil me on both days!" We both laughed and he told me I was "adorable." I can live with that. Celebrations are just so much fun! I have been looking forward for our anniversary for a couple of months because I really wanted to do something fun and special for my husband. We were traveling on our anniversary last year so I didn't really get a chance to do anything the day of our anniversary last year.   I started the day by making waffles! They were made with coconut flour, banana, homemade applesauce, and eggs. Yum!!
